Review of Movie
Hungar Games Mockingjay Part 2 mainly depends to the performance of Jennifer Lawrence. It is her final battle to her ultimate mission. She is at the center of the plot and if she doesn’t perform well the movie eventually doesn’t work for the audience. And she has actually done a remarkable job by standing out in the movies’ most weakest scenes too! Her wearied look proves how tired she has been and its time when she needs to conclude her battle so that she can have a proper emotional breakdown. Many other characters in this movie has been sidelined just to give support to Katniss in her quest for achieving her mission. Roles of Finnick, Johanna and others are eventually reduced in this movie and the focus is shown on Katniss only.
The director put all his focus on Katniss and Snow which eventually restricts him from adding some of the emotional and resonant scenes in the movie. Even there is a devatating death scene later in the movie but it doesn’t receive the depth of emotional outburst required- not even from Katniss. Another quite pricking moment in the movie is that often Gale comes up with the fact that Katniss needs to choose between him and Peeta, which is quite irrelevant in a war film. This last part of the movie has happy endings for most of the characters. If we have to comment on the script writing of Danny Strong and Peter Craig, we observe that they wanted to give a different ending if they were not bound to follow the adaptations. This concluding movie transforms from a movie belonging to a young adult to a totally adult movie.
This is one of the darkest movie in Hollywood be it in case of its storyline or the colors used in the scenes. You even find some of the fight scenes so dark that you can’t even see what action is taking place there. The portray of the character of Katniss is the strength of the film- even after winning the battle she show empathy towards both sides which makes her a very strong character. The movie actually portrays the destructive effects of war on a country. This maybe also the reason for which the happier and the lighter moments at the end of the movie do not stand out and do not give justification to its portrayal. They eventually stand contradictory to the main depiction of the movie.
Finally, Mockingjay part two has a strong cast who performance really well throughout the movie. The only problem with the movie is that the story is too burdened with the gravity of seriousness that the plot wants to depict. The film mainly focuses on Katniss to portray the devastating effct of war. This war movie is so dark that the emotional scenes in the movie are not justified appropriately. The story is quite straightforward and has a satisfying conclusion to The Hunger Games series but it fails to create an impact on the audiences like its precious movies.
